Schism
From KneeQuickie
The history of the Great Schism has been recorded in the historian Edward Gibbon's magisterial and detailed work The History of the Decline and Fall of the #Almean Empire, and it is only appropriate that we quote the great man (viz. a shoddy imitator thereof) here:
In its latter days, the once great and noble #Almea became decadent and soft, ravaged from within by barbarian hordes and nefarious politicking among her increasingly isolated and irrelevant masters, who were become unmanly and impotent in their forgetfulness of the civic virtue and pride which had made #Almea great.
A great cause of distress to all of the channel's denizens was a breakdown in law and order, wherein the anarchic forces of Mr Saturday and Feijuada clashed mightily with the righteous Rage of Xephyr. And, at length, it came to pass that a cadre of disaffected citizens did hie themselves unto a secret place of refuge, which they named #Isharia. Among these were many of the elder statesmen of #Almea, as well as some of the most outspoken rising starts of the proletariat, among them Brel and Cctoide.
Conceived in righteousness with high ideals, #Isharia was in its first conception no oligarchy as it is today, rather power was shared equally by all its citizens, with each having his own ophood. But the founder of this happy refuge, Radius, became absent and all were confused. He had left Feijuada, Saturday, Zeikan, King, Io the Pervert and Xephyr banished from the new realm, and there was much discord and strife, both in the abandoned #Almea and the new #Isharia.
Into this confusion came Dewrad, not the mightiest of the old ops of #Almea but the most outspoken, and he came to restore order unto chaos. Relieving all but himself of ophood in #Isharia, and receiving overlordship of it from Radius, who was greatly desirous of a respite from the halls of power, Dewrad looked upon #Almea and #Isharia and in his wisdom saw that for the ideals of #Almea to survive, it must needs be reconstituted in #Isharia, free of the ignoble presence of the Big Six.
Mighty and merciless in his ruthlessness, the op Dewrad forcibly razed #Almea to the ground, driving its people therefrom and even unto #Isharia, promising them riches and peace. And, as the bans fell, Dewrad laughed, for it was lol.
Of course, it probably happened somewhat differently to the great Gibbon's account, but why should that stand in the way of a good story?
