In addition the the phonemes above, Jihũ also has the doubly articulated consonants /kp gb kt tp/ and the semivowels /i̯ ɨ̯ ɯ̯/
/j/ contrasts with /i̯/. /j/ tends to be more obstructive in its realization, appearing as [ʒ] or even [ʤ] in the speech of many speakers. /j/ is commonly transcribed as <j> due to its Portuguese value rather than the more conventional <y>.
