History

The Eastern Barbarian peoples spoke a rapidly diverging dialect of Proto-Barbarian in the 6th and 5th centuries before the founding of Vadrian. By -450 they had settled in the northern Saimiar plain, near where the Gelengovø (Ele. Gæleçof) river traveled through the Great Pass. By now their langauge was termed Archaic Elésu

As their state grew in power and area, the langauge began to absorb elements from the other tongues they encountered. After the Elésu encountered the Xeseco:ni peoples, namely the Saimiar, in -50, the language is termed Middle Elésu. This stage of the language is characterized by an increased number of borrowings, particularly nautical terms from Jo:ru and Saimiar, and military terms from their Western Barbarian neighboors.

In 738 the Noxøtužø invaded the Saimiar plain, and the Elésu state was overrun. By the time the Saimiar repelled them in 1143, few Elésu, or any people from that part of the plain, were left alive. Saimiar occupied the northern part of the plain in the aftermath, as there was no state left to defy them after 300 years of fighting the Noxøtužø. What few speakers remained learned Saimiar, and Elésu became an extinct language.
