Aspects of Conworlding

A conculture is an invented cultural group forming part of a conworld. Conculturing (the art of creating concultures) is one of the main divisions of conworlding, and includes conmusic, con-art, and conreligion. It also includes, as a minimum, the description of a conculture in terms of their racial and cultural characteristics, their customs and attitudes, and their conhistory.

Racial and ethnic background

Depending on the history of a culture, it may encompass a number of ethnic and racial groups or it may be quite homogenous.

Belief systems

With the possible (but dubious) exception of some nihilist enclaves, all cultures have some form of belief system, if not several. Religions are an example of belief systems, but so are political ideologies, philosophical movements, and arguably even science itself. Belief systems typically strive to answer questions like why we exist and what is moral.

In a pre-modern society most belief systems are religious or quasi-religious in nature, with the sacred and immaterial featuring prominently. With the rise of industry and rationalist thinking, purely religious systems tend to give way to philosophy and science.
