Soundtrack

If ever a film adaptation of Aspril were made, Eddy has a number of recommendations in mind, even though he has yet to draft any actual scenes yet. These are his current favorites:

  • Canon Rock - JerryC
  • Rite of Spring - Stravinsky
  • Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
  • Grosse Fuga - Beethoven
  • Night on Bald Mountain - Mussorgsky
  • Imagine - Lennon
  • Organ Symphony no.5: Toccata - Widor
  • Great Gate of Kiev - Mussorgsky
  • Nocturne in Eb major - Chopin

Progress

Currently, the project remains in the prewriting stage, with many elements of the plot, characters, and setting remaining incomplete or undefined. However, Eddy has begun writing a lengthy 'bible' known simply as the "Terraverse Sourcebook" to tie together all the elements involved.

Notes

The title of Aspril was originally Terra Pvlchra: Red Manga, however the original title was thought rather boring and unappealing, so the title Aspril (which was judged more elegant and intriguing) was chosen, though the writer never did feel satisfied with it. The fact that it sounds a lot like "Akira" (the name of a popular anime movie) is also a factor. A number of titles have been considered in fact, including:

  • Aspril
  • Terra Pvlchra: Red Manga
  • The Anarchic Free

In addition, it was discovered that the name Terra Pvlchra was quite similar to the name TERRA, an organization that featured prominently in the anime Rahxephon. Given the many other accusations of plagiarism, Eddy now refers to Terra Pvlchra as the Terpish Confederation and intends to use the name Terra Pvlchra as the name of a future organization.

Eddy originally envisioned Aspril as a manga, but the definition of manga excludes nonJapanese mangaka and after much consideration, he decided it simply wasn't worth it, as the advantages of manga were not enough to make fighting Japanese attitudes worth the effort. Eddy has also considered the possibility of an opera or script and soundtrack rather than a novel, though these have never been serious ideas.
